The upgrade of items is a crucial element of enhancing your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enchantments of items.

The upgrade materials are both different: Smithing Stones to modify the damage weapons deal and Somber Smithing Stones to alter the standard weapons.

It is generally advised to improve weapon damage first, then armor defense, and finally the other secondary stats as required by your build. It is not uncommon to see melee Druids upgrade their weapon before upgrading other equipment. This will increase DPS. Armor
